You could be on the cover of a magazine. Your business might be the leader in its industry. You see the graphs and reports and know your profits are through the roof. But it’s not enough to make you feel like you’ve made it, and you don’t know why.
When all signs point to success but you can’t feel it, it might be due to the following:
You’re Working Too Hard
Success is hard to celebrate when you don’t have the time to do so. When you have so much on your plate, success feels like something foreign. You won’t feel successful until you’re able to leave the office for a few days without feeling like everything will fall apart. You want that security, but maybe it’s already there and you just don’t know how to accept it. Successful people know that they can’t do everything. That’s why they hire capable people and outsource tasks such as printing to modern printing companies. They might even look for an external team to handle their marketing. Whatever it is your company is good at, that’s where it should focus. For everything else, you could be breaking your back to make things work, but that’s not the wise and successful way to do it.
You Micromanage
This is related to working too hard. You won’t appreciate all the success if you feel like you have to do everyone’s job. The thing is, you have a hiring team who makes sure everyone who joins the company knows what they’re doing. All that’s left is for you to let go and actually allow them to do their jobs. Micromanagement is not productive, and it’s akin to treating your employees like children. It benefits no one. You are taking on tasks you shouldn’t have to, and your employees feel like you don’t trust them to carry their own weight. Do remember that they get paid even if you take on their tasks yourself or breathe down their neck while they do your bidding. Use your time on tasks that only you can do, and let your employees do what they’re hired to do.
You Have No One to Share Success with
Success comes with a steep price to pay. You might have sacrificed your relationship or your family to get where you are now, and it’s time to see how lonely it is at the top of the corporate ladder. It’s not too late to rekindle the romance with your significant other, however. Now that your company is doing well, spend more time with your partner and just enjoy each other’s company. Use your hefty paycheck to go on a relaxing vacation. Treat yourself and your loved one to all the luxuries you can now afford. It’s time to reap the rewards. You’re already successful, but you will not feel happy and fulfilled until you have someone to share it with.
Success is elusive, but it’s not unattainable. Maybe you’ve already achieved success but you’re too busy working to realize it.
